My (square) roots!

Hello and welcome to my blog!

My name is Mary and I'm a teacher candidate in the intermediate/senior sector. My first teachable is French and my second teachable is math (I know...they're at opposite ends of the spectrum, but I like to believe that I'm well rounded 😉 ). I love languages - I can speak four...well five, if you count math as it's own language! I hope to add more languages to that list too! If you haven't already noticed, I love to learn new things so I guess my teachers did their job and made me a life-long learner. I also love to travel. One of the things I love most about math is that it's so universal - no matter where I go in the world, math will always be the same.

Math and French tend to be students' least favourite subjects so I know it's going to be an uphill battle. However, I'm always up for a good challenge. It is my goal to shift their attitudes and make math and French fun and appealing to students. I want them to see it the way I do. As a teacher, I also want to teach my students how to truly comprehend math and understand why and how it works rather than simply plugging numbers into a formula and computing it. I hope that this course will aid me in finding new and innovative ways to teach math!

I also love a good pun (hence the name of my blog and the title of this post)! I think it's a fun way to get students a little more excited about math. So, I will try to leave you with a math joke/pun each time. Comment down below and let me know if you get a good laugh out of it!

Why can you never serve beer at a math party?
